A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Woodstock after a man’s body was found lying in the road.

Police officers and ambulance staff were called to Cockpit Close shortly after 3am today after the man’s body was discovered.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance said: “We received a call at about 3.30am saying there was a male aged about 50 lying in the road.

“Our staff arrived at 3.36am. Police officers were already there and the patient was declared deceased at the scene.”

Andrea Bennett, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said: “At about 3am this morning the body of a man was found lying in the road in Cockpit Close.

“At the moment, the death is being treated as unexplained because police are in the early stages of the investigation.

“A 20-year-old man from Woodstock has been arrested on suspicion of murder."

Ms Bennett said a police cordon had been set up at the scene as scene-of-crime officers carried out forensic checks.
