IT’S not just about the fat lady singing.
That was the message from opera enthusiasts yesterday as they took part in a project to bring performances to youngsters.
Members of Garsington Opera teamed up with Oxford University music students to create an original piece with the help of primary school children from Oxford.
The Golden Fish went down a storm with more than 200 pupils who attended performances at the university’s St John’s College this week.
Garsington Opera spokesman Clare Adams said: “We’re trying to inspire our children and communities to discover opera and debunk the myth that it’s all about the fat lady singing.”
Music lecturer Martyn Harry said: “It’s incredibly liberating to create new work with and for audiences of children.”
