NO-ONE with a heart will be able to look at the photographs of young Charlotte Nott today and feel anything other than deep sadness and sympathy.

Charlotte has had parts of all four limbs amputated after almost dying from meningitis and septicaemia just before Christmas.

Her mother Jenny, rather than allowing herself to be overwhelmed by the grief this has caused, has come forward to praise the ambulance crew and hospital staff for their care of Charlotte.

She believes that if it were not for the immediate actions of the paramedics, her precious daughter would have died.

The toll that illness has taken on this pretty little girl is truly horrific.

Yet look at her smile.

She will not have any understanding of the challenges ahead of her, but there is just something about her expression and the comments of her mother that give you some optimism she will live the very best life she can.

Staff nurse Sophie Webb also paid tribute to Charlotte’s determination and bravery and we join her in hoping that this youngster goes on to do great things in the future.
