AN ASPIRING referee was this week’s Oxford Mail Face in the Crowd.
Teenager Lewis Harper, right, was spotted by our photographer during Oxford United’s 2-1 win over Bradford on Saturday.
The 16-year-old, from Bodicote, near Banbury, said: “My dad buys the paper and he told me I was in it when I got back from school.
“I was quite surprised, really.”
Lewis, a Year 11 pupil at the Warriner School in Bloxham, officiates in the Witney Youth League and Oxford Academy League and has just begun running the line in the semi-professional Hellenic League.
He said: “Whenever I’m not refereeing I’ll go and watch Oxford. My favourite players are probably Steven Maclean or Tom Craddock.
“Chris Wilder has done a good job with the team.”
He said he will either spend the £75 on clothes or put it in the bank.
