In THE article in Saturday’s Mail headed “A cash carrot for council workers” it stated that the city council had “highlighted a potential £6m of efficiency savings”.
As a tax payer I would like to know why these savings were not identified and implemented earlier.
We could have all paid less council tax. It seems to me that councils and other government bodies only look for savings when their money supply is reduced.
While we are talking about savings, does anybody know if expenditure on non-essential things like town twinning, Oxford in Bloom and the position of Lord Mayor are going to be continued with?
I am sure other readers can come up with a list of non-essential expenditure. Have a look at the council website if you need reminding about where your money goes.
