Firefighters put out a small blaze at the Medina Mosque in East Oxford.
They were called to the Stanley Road mosque at 1.30pm on Friday to deal with a fire caused by a suspected heating appliance defect.
No one was hurt.
Watch Manager Matt Prentice said: “The incident highlights the need for commercial premises with high occupancy to have a robust fire plan in place.”
