Police are appealing for information after the home of a 101-year-old woman was broken into in Oxford.

Police were called to a property in Nelson Street, Jericho, shortly after 7pm on Wednesday after the elderly woman alerted a private alarm firm that someone was trying to force their way in through her front door.

Police arrived at about 7.15pm, where they discovered the door forced open.

Other than the elderly resident, no one was at the address and a search was carried out of the local area. Nothing was stolen in the break-in.

PC David Kuttner, from the Oxford burglary team, said: “The victim was obviously quiet shaken by what happened, but thankfully was unharmed in the incident.

“Witnesses have reported seeing two men leaving the property around the time of the incident. They are both described as white and wearing dark-coloured clothes.

“One of the men was about 5ft 10in tall, with collar-length hair. The other man was about 5ft 8in tall with short hair around the sides and slicked back on top.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen these men to come forward and speak to us.

“I would also ask that if anyone has any information at all about this incident, they come forward and speak to us.”
