Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a bank in Watlington.

Shortly after 2pm yesterday a man walked into Barclays Bank, in High Street, carrying what is believed to be a sawn-off shotgun.

The man demanded a member of staff put money into a bag before leaving the store. He then got into an unknown vehicle and left the scene.

The description issued by police said the man was approximately 6ft tall and was wearing a balaclava and green jacket.

Police said the amount of money stolen was unknown at this time.

Det Sgt Craig Burchall said: “Thankfully no one was injured in the incident, though members of staff have been left shaken by what happened.

“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, who may have seen the man entering or exiting the bank.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who might have seen any suspicious vehicles in the area, or who saw the vehicle the man got into and saw where it went.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Burchall via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
