YOUR review of the past year (Oxford Mail, December 31, 2010) reminds us of the tragic fact that, in November, Oxfordshire County Council proposed to save £155m by 2015 by cutting such valuable facilities as libraries and youth centres.

However, Keith Mitchell, in his Leader’s Blog of December 17 last year on the council website, says that cuts of £119m will be needed by 2015.

I believe that Mr Mitchell was an accountant before he hit the big time by becoming the council leader, so I wonder why he can’t get his figures right.

And as Mr Mitchell is so keen for volunteers to run libraries without pay, we are still waiting for Mr Mitchell to prove his commitment to the Big Society by volunteering to do his job as county council leader without any pay.
