BUSINESS leaders are warning supplies to Oxfordshire companies are being affected by heavy snow in other parts of the country.

Iain Nicholson of the Oxfordshire Town Chambers Network, which has more than 6,000 members, said: “There has already been considerable disruption this year in other parts of the country and we are now begining to see supplies to Oxfordshire affected.”

He said last January’s snow in Oxfordshire caused some working practices to change.

He said: “It is impossible to put anything like a sensible figure on the cost to Oxfordshire businesses of the disruption in January.

“A recent survey found about half Oxfordshire businesses operate from owners’ homes. So we are becoming more adept at video-conferencing, even working while on the road thanks to wireless technology.”
