IN your report ‘Crash forces road change’ (Oxford Mail, November 24) both the county council and Horspath Parish Council failed to say how the chicanes will reduce speed.

After they spent (wasted) £50,000 on traffic-calming in the village, all they did was create three accident blackspots, resulting in many injuries and one death.

As for the white gates in Cuddesdon Road, if they could be seen, they would be classed as an eyesore, but thankfully they are and have been overgrown and neglected virtually from the day they were put there and have never served any useful purpose.

In conclusion, the only thing to come out of all this is the fact that neither the county or parish councils have not got a clue what they are doing when it comes to road safety, but of course they would never admit it.
