Following the appalling revelation on Saturday that Oxfordshire has some of the worst school results in the country, I think parents and taxpayers are entitled to ask what is going on?

No doubt Michael Waine, the cabinet member for schools improvement, has been paid a very substantial allowance to preside over this disaster.

Why should public money be used to reward failure in this way?

I hope Mr Waine will be considering his position.

Or is it too much to expect anyone in the council to take responsibility for such incompetence?
