A DRIVER was trapped after a collision on the A34 last night.

Fire crews were called to the incident near the turning for Botley on the dual carriageway at 9.36pm.

A car had landed on its side. Two vehicles were involved.

They were released from the car by the fire service and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

A spokesman said: “This was a very serious collision, but because of the professional actions by all the emergency services at the scene, the casualty was quickly released and taken to hospital.

“I would urge all drivers and their passengers to wear seatbelts at all times. It was because the driver was wearing a seatbelt, which saved their life and prevented further injuries.”

The road was closed while police investigated.
