A SHORTLIST has been drawn up of organisations in the running for awards at a ceremony to honour the best of Oxfordshire’s charities.

The new awards attracted more than 100 nominations.

Three organanisations have been shortlisted for each of the nine categories with the awards presented on November 10 at North Oxford Golf Club. The highlight of the evening will be the naming of Oxfordshire’s Charity of the Year.

The awards are being run by Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action.

Alison Baxter, chief executive of the OCVA, said: “It’s great to have some good news for local charities and community groups at a time when they will be worried about the potential impact of the government cuts on their ability to carry on delivering vital services.

  • The shortlisted charities are: Refugee Resource, Restore, Project Inspire, Low Carbon West Oxford, Wantage and Grove Street Pastors, Oxford Food Bank, Launton Plotters, Oxford Homeless Pathways, Bullingdon Disabled Club, Gatehouse, Chipping Norton Lido, Against Breast Cancer, Listening Centre, Seesaw, Oxfordshire Community Foundation, Oxfordshire Playbus, Oxfordshire County Council Waste Management, Cowley Road Works, Leys Youth Programme, South Oxfordshire District Council, Jacari and Oxfordshire PCT Mental Health Commissioning Team.

Some have been shortlisted in more than one category.
