HELEN Birch-Machin is exceptionally lucky. She crashed her car off a village road into a ditch filled with water out of sight of passers-by and was trapped during heavy snow.
It could quite easily have been one of the tragedies of the February weather but fortune smiled when Wayne Ford and Will Oliver spotted her tyre tracks.
They deserve their commendation for saving the teacher’s life.
