A PARATROOPER who lost three limbs in a bomb blast in Afghanistan and other wounded colleagues are to run the US Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC on Sunday.

Corporal Tom Neathway of 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment, based at RAF Brize Norton, lost both legs and his left arm in a bomb blast in northern Helmand Province, in July 2008.

He now has artificial limbs.

The 27-year-old will be part of a five-strong team from the Parachute Regiment set to run the 26.2-mile race.

His fellow runners are Captain Mike Kerrigan, Private Keiron Dry, who suffered a gunshot wound to his head, Corporal Pete McCoombe, who has lost an eye, and Private Jaco van Gass, who lost an arm.

The team has so far raised £3,035 for the Parachute Regiment Charity.
