WALLINGFORD'S Rainbow Pre-school, off High Street, has officially opened its new kitchen, staff room, and children’s toilets after a £35,000 refurbishment.
Mayor Bernard Stone cut the ribbon last Thursday.
The school, which is attended by 72 children, benefited from a £29,000 grant from Oxfordshire County Council.
Pre-school chairman Julie Bywater said: “It has been completely rebuilt.”
She said the school had raised a further £6,000 from Christmas Bazaars, pub quizzes, raffles and donations from parents.
Former chairman Victoria Barlow said the building was built as a temporary shelter for the troops during the Second World War.
She said: “We had no desire to leave here but we were starting to feel that we could fall down with it.”
