BEER lovers will be able to raise a glass, and money, for an Oxford charity this weekend.
Managers of Oxford pubs the Honey Pot, the Jam Factory, the Duke’s Cut, Oxford Retreat and the White House will launch a beer festival in aid of Sobell House Hospice on Thursday.
Between Thursday and Sunday about 50 locally-brewed ales and some lagers will be laid on at the city’s first ‘OX-tober fest’.
The hospice gives specialist palliative and end of life care for people with a life-threatening illness.
Tom Rush, manager of the Honey Pot in Hollybush Row, said the group had wanted to help a local charity. He said: “This was a collaborative effort between all of the managers from the pubs.
“It’s a great local charity.”
Festival goers can buy a £5 wristband for the event which will afford them pints of guest ale from local breweries Cotswold Brewing Company and Wychwood breweries at the reduced price of £2.50.
