WHEN it came to making cakes, pupils at Bartholomew School, Eynsham, had plenty of creative ideas.
The school held an annual cake competition and there was no lack of enthusiasm when this picture was taken in 1968.
The chief prizewinners are, seated from left, Peter Derry, Bryon Simister, Karen Lawford, Penelope Kitchen and David Heyworth. We don’t know the names of the pupils standing behind them, nor whether they won any prizes.
The woman at the back, however, will be recognised by many readers.
She was author and broadcaster Mollie Harris, of Eynsham, well-known for her portrayal of Martha Woodford in the long-running BBC Radio 4 serial, The Archers. She judged the competition.
