A FORMER young offenders’ institution has reopened as a prison for adults.
Huntercombe Prison had housed youths aged 15 to 18 since 2000.
The last were moved out in June, after a fall in the number of younger people being imprisoned.
The prison, at Nuffield, near Wallingford, will now hold up to 370 adults.
It is classed as a Category C low-security jail, which means inmates cannot be trusted at an open prison but are thought unlikely to try to escape.
