YOUNG David Attenboroughs are enjoying bug hunts at the Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre this week.

Children can hunt for beetles, caterpillars, ladybirds and centipedes, as well as collecting leaves and flowers to create a detective notebook.

Centre manager Katie Fenton said: “The children get a lot from interacting with nature. They will spend hours looking under logs for woodlice. Children are given all sorts of expensive games machines but give them a stick and a bit of mud and they’re happy for hours.”

The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust centre, in Tyrrell’s Way, is open daily until Bank Holiday Monday, on August 30.

From Saturday, the centre is running a pond-dipping event for larvae called Damsels and Dragons, followed by den-building and wild art courses over the bank holiday weekend.
