TRAIN services between Oxford, Didcot and London are suffering delays of 30 to 60 minutes this afternoon due to the theft of signal cables near Reading.
Engineers are working to repair the damage but services are not expected to be back to normal until late this evening, with First Great Western and CrossCountry rush-hour services likely to be severely disrupted by the incident at Tilehurst.
CrossCountry trains which usually start and end their journeys at Reading will turn back at Oxford for the rest of the day and Chiltern Railways is accepting CrossCountry tickets between Banbury and Birmingham.
A similar incident of signal cable theft in West London on June 23 crippled services between London, Reading, Oxfordshire and the West of England for much of the day.
