DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg urged residents to question him on the economy when he visits Abingdon tomorrow.

The town is the first stop on the Liberal Democrat leader’s tour of town halls, and he will answer questions from 2pm at the Guildhall in Abbey Close.

Mr Clegg said: “There is lots to discuss – the economy, the cuts and how we will sort things out and move forward.

“I did not come into politics to announce cuts – it is the last thing anyone wants to do.

“But if we did not start filling in the black hole left to us by Labour we would have a worse economy.

“I don’t go to these town hall meetings for an easy ride.”
