Sir – On July 27 the county council will consider millions of pounds of cuts in important services for older people, disabled people, children with disabilities and their families. These will be on top of very large cuts already made. They will cause pain to people whose lives are difficult.

The Green Group in the county council proposes a way to restore over £4m a year to help protect these people.

At present the council provides free parking at park-and-rides and on-street in Oxford weekends and evenings. At the modest charge of £2 a day the council could raise over £4m a year.
