Congratulations to Stagecoach’s Martin Sutton for launching a fleet of green hybrid buses in the country, here in Oxford (Mail, July 15).

This is another step towards a low carbon Oxford and represents very welcome investment in our future.

These Euro 5 buses, made in the United Kingdom, are low on pollution, quieter and emit 30 per cent less carbon dioxide. Like the good old bicycle and BMW’s electric Minis, which are currently being trialed in Oxfordshire, these battery-powered buses show the way ahead for transport.

Well done Stagecoach and well done Department of Transport for finding the money to make this happen. Now let’s give all Oxford's buses the priority they need on the roads, and get the joint ticketing, to deliver a superb public transport system across our city.
