Sir – Each year I have faithfully looked forward to enjoying the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race on television in Scotland.
Alas, yesterday on holiday in Oxford I had the misfortune to witness a ladies team at their practice. Children were swimming in the river which was also abundant with wildlife.
To my horror these young, gifted, privileged ladies ploughed straight through the wild geese with no regard, no backward glance, no slowing of blades.
I came away disgusted and appalled; angry enough to resolve to never watch them compete again. It’s a wide river, I find no excuse for them.
