Sir, What a privilege it was being part of the Vertigo event on Saturday(July 1st) as some 170 Christian teenagers came from all over Oxfordshire to take part in 21 different social action projects across our city.
It was a particular triumph for co-operation and partnership working between NGOs, local government and our Christian youth workers and leaders, as everything ran so smoothly on the day. I was so proud of our young people as they worked immensely hard in the searing heat in order to make a real difference to the people and communities they served.
A special thank you must be given to Oxfordshire County Council for letting us take part in their recycling logo world record attempt in Broad Street and for sponsoring our brilliant green T-shirts and 'zero waste' BBQ, and to Oxford City Council City Works department and parks department, who were uncomplainingly helpful in enabling things to happen. Thank you also to The Oxford Bus Company who let us have Freedom Group Passes at a discount. Let us pray that the amazing partnerships that have been forged are a sign of greater things to come.
Christine Wordsworth, Vertigo team member, Lower Heyford
