A PARLIAMENTARY candidate who was the target of a four-letter outburst on a YouTube video of Adolf Hitler has reported the website to police.

Henley candidate John Howell was one of a number of Oxfordshire Conservatives to be attacked in the doctored four-minute clip, which features an actor playing the German dictator in the film Downfall.

A derogatory slur was also made about the nationality of German-born South Oxfordshire district councillor Ros Myer.

The subtitled scene depicts Hitler as Will Hamilton, a Tory candidate who lost a recent by-election in Henley, who rants about Tories in the area. Mr Howell, who was elected as MP for the south Oxfordshire constituency in 2008, said he had reported the video to Thames Valley Police Chief Constable Sara Thornton.

He said: “This video crosses the line in two respects. First, it will be offensive to many ex-servicemen and women and is in very poor taste. Secondly, it is gratuitously defamatory.”

Oxfordshire county councillor Peter Skolar and district councillor Joan Bland were also targeted.

The video was posted by someone calling themselves MrHenley111. The clip uses a scene where Hitler unleashes a furious tirade when he realises the Second World War is lost.

Similar videos have been created with the tyrant ranting about Manchester United football club and the Daily Mail.

Police spokesman Danny Donovan said: “The Chief Constable is on leave. We will check whether she has received a complaint when she returns.”

No-one was available for comment at YouTube.
