Gavin Anderson was the difference between the two sides as Squire Bassett defeated Three Pigeons in Section 1.
Chasing a set of 23, the anchor man whipped off the four dolls required to take the first leg by the odd doll. And he knocked off the three dolls needed to claim leg two 26-25.
Three Pigeons, whose top scorer was Dave Townsend (4-4-5), won the final leg 25-14.
Ray Peachey clanged off an impressive 14 dolls (3-5-6) as he led Lord Kitchener to maximum points at The Red Lion Garsington in Section 6.
Dave Long chipped in with nine dolls as they took all three legs 15-10, 19-13, 20-11.
Veteran Brian Claridge rolled back the years as hit a dozen dolls 4-5-3 in New Club's 3-0 victory at The Black Swan in Section 2.
The game was closer than the result looks as the Club men took all three legs, 20-19, 27-25, 23-17. Trevor Jones top scored for Swan with 11 dolls.
In Section 3, Gardiner Arms and Democrats hit identical scores but Demos snatched the win.
Richard Wyness led the way with 11 dolls (3-4-4) in the leg scores of 16-11, 21-16, 11-21.
It was lucky 13 for North Oxford Con Club's Tony Lane as he led his young side to a 2-1 home win over Kings Arms in Section 4 .
