English fans causing trouble at the World Cup finals in Germany next month could come up against a Thames Valley Crown Prosecution Service lawyer.
Senior prosecutor Bethan David has been selected to travel to Germany as one of only four "flying prosecutors".
She will accompany a team including 40 UK police officers aiming to minimise trouble at the competition.
Her role will be to assist the police in handling evidence against any English fans who cause trouble.
She said: "I am delighted to be part of the first team of CPS lawyers to ever travel to an overseas sporting event to help the police with their evidence gathering.
"CPS lawyers have always worked closely with the police in advising them on gathering evidence and charging in the UK and so it is logical to extend the same service for those officers going to Germany. And of course, I am excited to play a part in the safe operation of such a high profile tournament."
