Police uncovered another drugs factory in Oxford yesterday after being tipped off by local residents.
The raid in Aston Street, East Oxford, follows the discovery of cannabis factories inside houses in Fairacres Close and Warwick Street last month.
About 10 police officers raided the three-storey terraced house at 8am acting on information from neighbours and residents.
Inside police found six bedrooms filled with cannabis plants up to three feet tall and hydroponic growing kits.
An estimated 187 cannabis plants with a street value of about £18,000 were seized.
Last month police found an estimated £70,000 worth of drugs growing in houses in East Oxford during similar raids.
Acting Sergeant Simon Beaton said: "Residents of the street brought the suspicious activities of this address to our attention. Within the premises we found what can only be described as a hydroponics factory to grow what we believe to be cannabis.
"This shows the local community, who give us information, that we are listening and gives a clear message to the people involved in these activities that they are not welcome.
"This team was also involved in operations at Fairacres Road and Warwick Street and although it is to early to say they are linked, it is fair to say they are broadly similar."
After breaking in through the front, officers forced open locked doors to bedrooms and a living room. Inside the six bedrooms police discovered rows of cannabis plants in pots underneath high-powered hydroponic growing kits and lights.
No one was found inside the house and there were no arrests. Andy Cotgreave, 34, of Aston Street, said: "I never suspected it. I know someone living in Fairacres Road and after I saw that raid in the news I said to him it all happens down your way. But now it's happened outside my front door."
Police are appealing for anyone with information to call 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
