Banbury GT racer Jamie Derbyshire will head to Brno in the Czech Republic this weekend for the second round of the FIA GT Championship.

The Spirit Motor Group-backed driver is hoping that developments to the Balfe Motorsport Saleen S7R will move him further up the grid.

At the opening round at Silverstone just three weeks ago, Derbyshire and the rest of the team struggled with a car that clearly was not handling properly. The team has been working hard to get to the bottom of the problem to allow Derbyshire and team-mate Shaun Balfe the best chance to take the battle to the rest of the GT1 grid.

Derbyshire said: "It will be interesting to see how much the car will have changed since Silverstone. The team has been working incredibly hard to make improvements to the car and it should make a huge difference, not only to the lap times we can do, but how much easier it will be to drive too.

"I'm definitely looking forward to Brno, we had a strong run there last season in the Mosler in GT2 and the Saleen should be an incredibly quick car around there. We struggled at Silverstone, but we should be on a firm footing from the moment we take to the track next weekend and hopefully all the hard work will have the desired effect and put us in amongst the top teams."
