Oxford Harlequins director of rugby Matt Maudsley struggled to look on the bright side despite his side's victory in the Oxfordshire Cup final.
Maudsley said: "We played terribly, but fair play to Witney, they did really well.
"I thought Anthony Cope was our best player, but their six, Will Worrall, was excellent. He was a total thorn in our side.
"We didn't play well, but we won. I think they will be disappointed at not winning the game.
"We just couldn't get any fluidity. It was a good job we've got a good kicker in Ben Cottenden."
Meanwhile, Witney player-coach Matt Watts felt his players had just needed a little more confidence.
He said: "Perhaps we didn't quite believe we could win it. We played well and know we should have won it.
"I think we shocked them a little bit, but in the first quarter of the second half they upped a gear and we couldn't live with them.
"We knew Quins would think we would try to dominate up front, but we wanted to play expansively as well.
"They are a good side. They need to believe in themselves a bit more."
