English League: Oxford Hawks beat Barford Tigers 2-1 to guarantee safety in the Men's South Division.

They knew, regardless of how bottom club University of Cambridge did, that a victory would keep Hawks up because just one team goes down this season.

As it turned out, the Cambridge students drew 3-3 with Plymouth Marjon.

But Hawks deserved to take all the points against Barford Tigers, who were two places above them at the start of play.

In a very scrappy game, Hawks took an early lead through Nathan Monk, who hit a reverse stick shot past the goalkeeper.

Barford equalised from open play, but Jack Wells scored again for Hawks in the 34th minute, with what proved to be the winner.
