Police investigators closed a towpath in Oxford following an alleged sex attack.
The Oxford Canal towpath near Upper Fisher Row in Jericho was closed yesterday (March 13) as forensic officers searched the area.
Det Insp Cecilia Agger said a woman had reported to police that she was assaulted on the towpath shortly after midnight on Saturday.
The woman reported the attack to police at 5pm on Sunday.
Det Insp Agger, of Oxford CID, said: "Specially trained officers are currently working with the victim to determine exactly what happened. "However, we're investigating a serious sexual assault."
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
