GLS Football Hellenic League - Letcombe 2, Pewsey Vale 1: Letcombe's new purple nets worked wonders as they ended their goal drought to return to winning ways in Division 1 West on Saturday.

The match was effectively decided in the last three minutes of the first half.

Letcombe skipper, Adam Pendell, returning after injury, was hauled down by Vale keeper Stuart Thompson, and Richard Claydon scored from the resulting penalty.

Two minutes later, Pewsey's Russell Fishlock was sent off for punching Mark Rees. Claydon took the free kick, and Rees scored at the far post with a firm header.

Pewsey replied in the second half when Adam Field's high ball rebounded off the far post, hit Letcombe keeper Stuart Game on the back, and rebounded into the net.

Game later brought off a great save to deny Pewsey a point.

Cirencester United 2, Headington Amateurs 3: Headington reclaimed second spot after a two-week lay-off when they came from behind to win at Cirecencester.

The home side took the lead in the 16th minute when McSherry netted on the rebound following a block from Headington keeper Dan Bianchini.

The visitors found their stride and two goals in a minute from Jason Maciak and Matthew Crook put them 2-1 up at half time.

Eight minutes into the second half, Amateurs put the game beyond reach when Jamie Mundy scored a third.

Despite a late rally from Cirencester which saw them reduce the arrears through Hall in the 81st minute, Headington held on.

Winterbourne 3, Hook Norton 1: Hook Norton, playing their first game for three weeks, got off to a slow start and Winterbourne took a tenth minute lead through Mark Allen.

Two quick goals from Darren Andrews after the break put the leaders in command.

Hooky pulled a goal back through Richard Northover, who curled a shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the openalty area, after good work by Robbie Canaway.

Ross Town 2, Clanfield 1: Clanfield lost this basement battle on a bumpy pitch, despite taking the lead in the 36th minute when Dan Dixon netted after a good move involving Lee Cook and Neil Lee.

The vistors missed further chances to increase their lead, and they were made to pay in the second half when Gary Stewart and Andy Stewart both scored for Ross.

Binfield 0, Bicester Town 1: Despite dominating much of this Division 1 East game, Bicester had to wait until seven minutes from time before netting the only goal.

Dean Smith, who posed Binfield problems all game, provided a marvellous cross for striker Steve Miles to score with a far-post header.
