GLS Football Hellenic League - Abingdon Town 4, Fariford Town 2: Tom Larman struck twice as Abingdon Town eased their Premier Division relegation worries with an important victory over fellow strugglers Fairford at Culham Road on Saturday.

An action-packed game saw Abingdon race into a 2-0 lead inside 15 minutes, before they were pegged back by two quick goals, only for Larman to settle it with his brace

Abingdon, who welcomed back defenders Luke Beauchamp and Anthony Burden, plus striker Paul Jezzard, netted in the seventh minute.

Rob Lovegrove headed the ball back to Danny Morgan who struck home a fierce volley from outside the box.

Then Jezzard burst clear of the visitors' defence and coolly drilled the ball past goalkeeper Paul Stevens to make it 2-0.

Two minutes later, Fairford's Jon Davoile ran the ball along the edge of the Town box before looping in a shot that evaded goalkeeper Jon Beames and nestled in the net.

The visitors equalised in the 22nd minute when Dave Tyler struck a sweet shot past Beames.

Abingdon's Nana Agyeman hit the woodwork for the second time before they regained the lead just before half-time.

Jezzard tumbled under a challenge from Andy Grainge inside the box.

The referee sent off Grainge for dissent, while Larman kept his composure to fire home the resultant penalty.

Ten-man Fairford went close when Paul Hunt's shot hit the bar in the 70th minute, but Larman sealed the victory nine minutes from time with a sweet strike from 15 yards.

Witney United 0, Milton United 1: After a 3-0 loss at the hands of Witney United on Christ- mas Eve, Milton returned the favour with a narrow victory at the Marriott's Stadium.

The only goal was scored by Martin Fox in the 63rd minute. From a free kick outside the area, the tall centre half rose to head the ball home.

Milton had a good chance to make the it 2-0 later in the second half when Adam Beckett put the ball wide of an open goal.

Witney, who gave a debut to Danny Wise, found it very difficult to break down Milton's rearguard.

The visitors' keeper Gareth Walker, in his first Premier Division game since being injured in October, made two spectacular second-half saves from Mark McMeeking.

In injury time, Witney almost snatched the draw when a throw in by McMeeking was flicked on to Jamie Cook, whose volley bounced away off a post.

Kidlington 0, Abingdon United 3: Abingdon took charge early on when Ryan Curtin crossed into goalmouth, and Scott Davis headed home to put his side ahead.

Luke Holden posed problems for Abingdon in the 40th minute, but Davis slid in to halt the danger.

The second half started, with United winning a corner, and Curtin found Davis, who scored a carbon copy of his first goal.

Abingdon took control of midfield, and in the 55th minute Michaes Herbert found Mark Simms, whose low drive made it 3-0.

This killed off spirited Kidlington's attempts at a fightback.

Didcot Town 0, Highworth Town 0: Didcot were held to a draw for the first time in the league this season by the reigning champions

Most of the home side's best moments involved Paul Powell, who almost opened the scoring in the fourth minute when his shot deflected just wide.

Didcot's best chance of the first half came after a terrific through-ball from Powell, but Jack King was unable to find a way past Elliot Jackson.

Stuart Beavon limped off at half-time and Didcot's re-organisation saw Andy Parrott move up front and Paul Bedwell come into the defence.

The best save of the second-half came from Didcot's Chris Webb, who turned Terry's free-kick around the post.
