Security will be beefed up at an Oxford bowling alley following a drunken brawl involving 40 people which resulted in four arrests at the weekend.
Managers of the Bowlplex, at the Kassam Stadium, are meeting with licensing chiefs from Oxford City Council this week to discuss bringing in extra doormen to search every customer.
Police made the arrests in the early hours of Saturday morning after a fight in the bar left a woman needing 40 stitches in her head and eyelid. She was treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital and later released
Extra security will now be brought in in the run up to Christmas and everyone identified as being involved in the fight will be banned from the premises.
Bowlplex commercial director Marina Hyatt said: "We are sitting down with police and the licensing authority and discussing measures we can put in place to try and resolve this.
"We don't experience many problems -- we're a family centre. We had some undesirables here on the night."
It is not thought the trouble was related to a later licence granted to the club until 3am on Fridays.
A 26-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and a 44-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and causing criminal damage. All four have been bailed until January.
