Police officers working in Abingdon have been praised by their Chief Constable, Peter Neyroud.

Sgt David Horsburgh, Pc Tracy Frazer and Pc Javid Haq were commended for successfully disarming a woman who confronted them with a knife and made threats to harm herself and others in a house in Abingdon in March 2005.

Eleanor Taylor was commended for her outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of race equality.

During the ceremony, held at Drayton Golf Club, Mr Neyroud said: "All of the people at this ceremony have demonstrated immense bravery, skill and a commitment to helping other people.

"The officers and police staff that have received an award should be as proud of themselves as I am of them, for they have shown us all that their work has been in the highest traditions of the police service."

A Chief Constable's Commendation is one of the highest honours the force can bestow.
