I read with total disbelief the story of Dr Alison Brading, from Thrupp, who has been prosecuted by Cherwell District Council (Oxford Mail, Novermber 24).

The council has wasted thousands of pounds over six (yes, six) years, all because she had the audacity to replace her wooden front door with uPVC. She now faces a possible prison sentence for doing so.

Because of her location, she has probably paid an astronomical price for a tiny house, and like everyone else, has to pay an exorbitant council tax.

Yet she is not allowed to make improvements due to some outdated preservation order that should have been abolished years ago.

If the council finds a uPVC door so offensive, why has it given its blessing to the mobile phone companies to plant their ugly masts willy-nilly all over the district?

My advice to those involved in the Thrupp fiasco, and the rest of Bodicote House who are supposed to be running the show, get your heads out of the sand and do something worthwhile and positive for those who are funding your existence.

Well done, Dr Brading, for standing up for what you believe in.
