They don't make them like William Stone any more.
The former sailor has been out selling poppies near his home in Watlington as the country once again remembers the dead of two World Wars and numerous other conflicts.
At 105, he is one of just a handful of survivors from the war to end all wars, as it was called.
This remarkable character also fought in World War II, where he came through the horrors of Dunkirk and the Atlantic convoys.
One day, he and the remaining Tommies will be gone. But they must never be forgotten.
Nor must the men and women who died in those terrible conflicts, or more recent casualties in Iraq, the Balkans and Northern Ireland.
So please, remember the fallen in whatever way you can today, Armistice Day, and on Remembrance Sunday.
Giving up a little of our time, or making a donation to the Royal British Legion, is the least we can do for those who gave up so much more.
If you need any inspiration, there's a spritely old poppy seller in Watlington who'll be able to provide plenty.
