Adam Griffin will go straight into Oxford United's squad to face Wrexham tomorrow after signing on a month's loan from Oldham.

The 21-year-old left-sided midfielder arrives at the Kassam Stadium to give United's side balance while Stuart Gray remains sidelined.

Griffin may start on the bench against Wrexham, but Brian Talbot believes he will be a useful asset . . . although the manager was concerned about the youngster finding his way to Oxford!

"He's a young boy who's not got a lot of experience and he's quite small. I knew him from when I was at Oldham.

"I just hope he finds his way here OK because when I spoke to him he said he'd never driven on a motorway before, and when I asked about him coming down by train, he said he'd never heard of (Manchester) Piccadilly railway station!

"He's a Salford lad who hasn't travelled very far, so it will be all very new to him, and I'm pretty sure he's not played at the Kassam Stadium before, so that will be new to him as well."

Talbot added: "He's not played a game this season under Ronnie Moore, but Ronnie has brought in his own players, which is fair enough.

"I know what Adam can do. We beat Manchester City in the FA Cup last season, which is well documented, and he kept Shaun Wright-Phillips quiet.

"I really needed another left-footed player in our squad to give us balance."

Griffin will not be eligible to play in next Wednesday's FA Cup first-round replay against Eastbourne Borough, however, because he was not signed in time.

Under the competition's rules, players have to be signed before the date of the original game to play in the replay, but he would be eligible for the second round at Cheltenham on December 3 if United get through.
