You report that our Community hospitals could be taken over by The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, (Oxford Mail, November 4).

Last year, when we were fighting to stop the closure of our Community

Hospitals by the PCT, we said that the figures used in the South

Locality Plan were wrong and that community hospital beds were required to prevent bed blocking.

Community Hospital beds are much more economic than the acute trust hospitals to run.

If bed blocking is still a problem then the Regional Health Authority should give enough money to the PCTs to enable enough staff to be employed to keep all the beds

open.

This would allow the local priorities to be met with changes from month to month.
