Firoz Kassam will meet Brian Talbot today in a bid to solve Oxford United's goalscoring problem.

The U's chairman told the Oxford Mail last night that he was "very concerned" about his side's lack of goals, insisting that the situation must change.

And he hinted that a meeting with the manager was likely to be dominated by discussions on forwards.

"Basically, we've hardly scored any goals at all," Kassam said.

"That is the problem, and everyone knows that. But it has still not been resolved.

"We tried to sort it out before, but that doesn't seem to have worked.

"We have five or six strikers at the club, so either they need to pull their fingers out and get their act together, or we will have to look elsewhere."

Steve Basham, Eric Sabin and Craig Davies are the main men in the firing line, while Andy Campbell, Danny Morgan and Lee Bradbury have all featured up front this season.

Kassam would not say if the club was close to bringing in a new face, but added that he would make his feelings known about the lack of goals.

United have scored just 17 goals in 19 games so far this season, which includes a meagre three in the past seven matches.

Centre back Leo Roget is still their leading scorer with three goals.

"I can't comment on any speculation involving new players until it has happened, but solving our goals problem is obviously something we need to try and rectify," he added. "The situation is not getting any better."

November is a crucial time for Oxford - one which could map out their season.

Of their five remaining games in the month, four are at home.

As well as three league matches, United have an FA Cup replay against Eastbourne, plus an LDV Vans clash with Leyton Orient.

"It is a big month for us," Kassam added. "But then again, every month is big.

Another issue Kassam and Talbot are likely to discuss today is a possible loan move for Oldham Athletic's Adam Griffin.

The left-sided player turned out for United's reserves on Tuesday, and is someone Talbot is known to be keen on bringing to the Kassam Stadium.
