A musical extravaganza starring Oxfordshire singer Zoe Mace is set to take place in June next year.

The 10-year-old Cokethorpe School pupil revealed last month that she would like to hold a concert at Oxford's New Theatre to raise money for four county charities, but needed £2,000 sponsorship to secure the venue.

Following a plea for help in the Oxford Mail, the Midcounties Co-operative has come forward to offer help.

It means Zoe and about 200 drama students from county branches of Stagecoach Theatre School will be able to tread the boards during two performances on Sunday, June 18.

Money raised during the day will go towards Oxford Children's Hospital, SeeSaw, the Oxfordshire branch of the Down's Syndrome Assoc- iation, and Helen House.

Zoe's mother Linda, of Witney Road, Freeland, said: "We've decided to price the tickets at £10 and £12 so everyone can afford them.

"That way, hopefully, we'll fill the theatre -- although with all the children who will be involved, I think we could fill it anyway! "Stagecoach has approached a couple of big stars to come and host the show for us, so everything is looking good!"

Zoe, who earlier this year performed at the New Theatre with comedian Brian Conley, has managed to raise £78,000 for charity in the last year.

Last Christmas she produced an album for the Oxford Children's Hospital, as a thank you to staff at the John Radcliffe Hospital, who cared for her younger sister Jodie after she was born with Down's syndrome and cardiac problems.

The four-year-old died in March following open heart surgery, leaving Zoe determined to put together a second album for the Down's Syndrome Association, which has so far raised £50,000.

Songs for My Sister reached number three in the classical soloists charts -- pushing Julian Lloyd Webber into third place -- before it was removed after complaints from record companies. Bill Laird, Midcounties Co-operative chief operating officer, said: "The Co-op has been able to give its backing to Zoe in a number of ways to date.

"We were also delighted that she was able to give a live performance at our Carterton store last year.

"As a local business we're very proud of Zoe's wonderful achievements, which have raised funds for a number of charities."

Mrs Mace said she would still welcome help from any other businesses.
