Thame Utd 2, Sutton Coldfield 1:Thame United recorded their second successive victory to move off the bottom of Southern League Division 1 West.

It was also their first win of the season at their Aylesbury United home.

Sutton Coldfield created more chances in the first half, but their finishing was ineffective.

Thame opened the scoring in the 48th minute.

Joyce's free-kick from the right beat the Sutton Coldfield defence, bounced in front of goal, and the unmarked Nik Rhodes shot home from five yards.

A spell of open attractive football followed with good chances at both ends.

Thame went further ahead in the 70th minute when defender Gavin Lane met a corner with a spectacular near-post header.

Sutton Coldfield brought on Kyle Perry and played three men up front in a bid to salvage something from the game.

Perry missed a good chance when he blazed a volley over.

But he redeemed himself in the 86th minute when he pulled a goal back with a diving header from Sam Wilson's cross.

The final few minutes were frantic, at both ends, but Thame held on.
