We report today on two sides of the fundraising effort for victims of the earthquake in Pakistan.

On the one hand, Nawaz Shah has done brilliantly to raise £25,000 in next to no time.

His ambition to help with aid and rebuild the mosque at Mirpur is inspiring -- and his friends and relatives have responded generously.

We wish him well in his travels which begin later this week.

However, Oxfordshire Search and Rescue have been less lucky, drawing a blank following their recent appeal for more money to fund a return trip.

We know their request came after the initial burst of donations sparked by the tragedy.

Many will have already given aid via the collections made in Oxford or nationally via the Disasters Emergency Committee.

But we hope that there are still Oxfordshire companies and individuals who would like to give to Osar -- a local group of well-trained people who have an international reputation for their work in such crises.
