Gloucester City 1, Banbury Utd 1: Paul Lamb's second-half equaliser gave injury-hit Banbury United a well-deserved point at Gloucester City in the Southern League Premier Division on Satur- day.

Lamb struck in ther 58th minute, finishing off the best move of the game.

Ollie Stanbridge, George Redknap and Ady Fuller combined well on the right before Fuller crossed to Jody McKay.

He nodded the ball down for Lamb to fire home from eight yards for his fifth goal of the season.

Banbury's preparations were thrown into disarray by Wayne Blossom's late arrival, forcing manager Kevin Brock to include the unfit Chris Jackson at centre half.

The strong wind at Banbury's backs caused them to overhit the ball frequently, and the closest they came to scoring in the first half was when Stanbridge's first-time shot went just wide.

Gloucester took the lead in the 33rd minute when Tom Webb smashed a 25-yard volley past the unsighted Simon Tricker.

And they almost added to their tally before half-time when Tricker brought off a marvellous save from Luke Corbett.

In the 56th minute, Ban- bury cursed the state of the Gloucester pitch when a Stanbridge cross was met by Matty Gooderick, whose header went wide of Matt Bath in the Tigers' goal only for it to get bogged down in the goalmouth mud, allowing the keeper to tip it round a post.

However, two minutes later, Lamb fired Banbury level.

Blossom at last took to the field with 25 minutes to go, in place of Gooderick, to try his hand up front, as United pushed in vain for a winner.
