Carole Newman (Oxford Mail, September 14) seems determined to paint a bleak picture about park-and-ride. I can reassure her that we are doing our utmost to bring down the cost.
We are in talks with bus companies about the structure of their fares and I can assure her that the removed 60p parking charge will, under no circumstances, be added to bus fares.
I share her wish that Oxford City Council will follow our lead by removing the 60p charge from its three park-and-ride sites at Seacourt, Redbridge and Pear Tree. We want to give travellers in Oxfordshire real choice.
