Once upon a time, Gloucester Green was the main bus station for Oxford. I was at school in Oxford and remember a rather draughty open space where buses came and went, and turned around.
Since its redevelopment, it has been taken over by long-distance coaches, mostly going to London.
These coaches are now so enormous they have difficulty turning off George Street, apart from the sheer terror they induce in people on foot and on bikes in High Street and St Aldate's and across Magdalen Bridge. Wouldn't it make more sense to turn these long-distance services round on the eastern side of Magdalen Bridge?
They could turn round at The Plain. Most passengers get on in the High or St Clement's, not at Gloucester Green.
Gloucester Green could then be a local bus terminus again, and we could have Queen Street free of buses.
